The President's Day Fuzzy Assassin

She killed again.

Our sweet, country calico kitten. She murdered a poor innocent squirrel who tried to make his way into our living room through the screen door. Dead in less than five seconds.

The last time she killed was a rat, also on President's Day, oddly enough, in 2004.

Very strange, and kind of disturbing.

OK, sad its a squirrel but it does speak volumes that she did both slaying on Presidents day. We need to sit down with that Calico and gain her wisdom. She looks super sweet and innocent though. Was it bloody? Who had to clean up this mess?

I would just like to point out that, although Donna and I (who live two doors over, I should mention for clarity) have invited squirrels into our home for snacks on the sofa in years past, we have not done this in a long, long time and thus could not have instilled this admittedly bad habit into any of the squirrels currently hanging around these townhomes.

As much as I love the squirrels, I understand that Daphne was simply saying "Fuzzy rats in my crib? Oh no you di-int!" Good job, kid! And get those Jehovah's Witnesses while yer at it! (Kidding, kidding...)

And how on earth did you remember that the last rodent whacking was also on President's Day? Does Daphne keep a diary, or put little notches on her collar?

I'm glad that it wasn't "your" squirrel. We were kind of concerned about that!

I remembered it was President's Day, because the first time this happened, it was a rare time that I was was home and my spouse was not. This time, because of different jobs for both of us, it was the opposite!

It was not bloody at all. She's a master!
